Converting drum brakes to disk...?
i think your biggest problem will be is if your brakes are still factory drums these operate off of a cable system and disc will be hydraulic so you have to install a master cylider, perporitioning valves and lines and honestly this is probably going to cost more than the car is worth and my opinion i would stay with the drums on a VW beetle look at the back of the drum from underneath the car there should be a round inspection plug pull it out get a brake adjustment tool and it your good you can use a flathead screwdriver and adjust the brakes in to release the drums its pretty simple

It's very expensive to do and a bit unnecessary unless you are going to race with it. So no, don't bother with it, just fix the drum brakes and as you do, raise both wheels off the ground so you can look at the other side to see what spring and clip goes where.
This would require replacement of your entire brake system plus adding a proportioning valve to equalize the front and rear brakes. The original hydraulic lines should also be replaced as the discs require higher pressure than the drums.
Drums are not difficult to replace. Get a book from the library and study the pictures.
