Avg life span for drum brakes?

I have a 02 Ford Taurus with 122k miles on it..i last changed my shoes and had the drums turned at 100k. When ever i break my rear breaks (drums) squeak a lot...does that mean i need to have them changed/replaced?? or what?

The average life is 100,000-150,000 miles if they are squeaking more than likely the shoes are shot. And if you change them you mise well change the drums and hardware as well.
Avg life span for drum brakes?
2 more years i think not sure
about 20 minutes usually

ps. ford tauruses are the ugliest cars ever build by ford you should burn it.
oh dog puhleeze!

When you turn the rotors you are cutting some of the metal away, in addition to the metal that has worn away during the first 100k miles, that can be alot... and then you install new shoes that are the diameter of the original drums, so the contact surface of the shoe may not fully contact the drum surface. hence the shoe lining wears faster in one area than the other, and wears out sooner. If the rears are grinding or squeaking - yep, time for a brake job.

Want it to last longer this time?? Replace the drums too
